These are subject to change, but these rankings felt really weird. Even under strange circumstances it feels weird to rank Gore and CJ2K outside of my top 20, and even to have Eddie Lacy so far down. Maybe it will change later in the week, but for now this is what I'm thinking:
- Jamaal Charles
- Adrian Peterson
- Arian Foster
- LeSean McCoy
- Knowshon Moreno
- DeMarco Murray
- Marshawn Lynch
- Fred Jackson
- Doug Martin
- Ray Rice
- Alfred Morris
- Reggie Bush
- C.J. Spiller
- DeAngelo Williams
- Trent Richardson
- Darren Sproles
- Giovani Bernard
- Le'Veon Bell
- Frank Gore
- Danny Woodhead
- Willis McGahee
- Chris Johnson
- Eddie Lacy
- Stevan Ridley
- Darren McFadden
- Ronnie Hillman
- Zac Stacy
- Bilal Powell
- BenJarvus Green-Ellis
- Rashard Mendenhall
- Maurice Jones-Drew
- Pierre Thomas
- Andre Ellington
- LeGarrette Blount
- Ben Tate
- Mike Goodson
- Joique Bell
- Ryan Mathews
- Marcel Reece
- Daryl Richardson
- Brandon Bolden
- Kendall Hunter
- Jackie Battle
- Donald Brown
- Rashad Jennings
- Chris Ivory
- Ronnie Brown
- Anthony Dixon
- Montee Ball
- Bernard Pierce
- Bryce Brown
- Mike Tolbert
- Jonathan Franklin
- Benny Cunningham
#9 Fred Jackson - #15 on ESPN Rankings / #14 C.J. Spiller #17 on ESPN Rankings
Here's my thinking: I know a lot of people are worried about the Bills running game without a QB. My belief is that both of these guys will get 20+ touches and a bad QB (Thad Lewis) is likely to look for them in the passing game. If you get that many touches you are going to have a decent game. The Bengals have a solid but not great run defense.
#15 Darren Sproles - #22 on ESPN Rankings
Darren Sproles has been frustratingly inconsistent, and I was completely wrong on him last week. So maybe I just don't understand the guy. I don't believe Pierre Thomas catches 9 of 9 targets again. Jacquizz Rodgers who is a very similar sized player to Sproles (both are 5'6") burned the Patriots in the pass game for 56 yards on 5 catches. The Pats did shut down Giovani Bernard in the passing game last week, but Andy Dalton is not Drew Brees. I still believe Sproles is a nice RB2 this week.
#21 Frank Gore - #14 on ESPN Rankings
I really like Frank Gore, I do. But Arizona has been amazing against the run most games this year. They held Doug Martin and Reggie Bush to a combined 60 yards on 36 carries. Thats amazing. DeAngelo Williams was likewise shutdown last week. Gore's best chance at a passable day in fantasy is a TD, otherwise its not going to be pretty.
#24 Eddie Lacy - #16 on ESPN Rankings
Baltimore's secondary may not be excellent, but its rush defense is. Out of the three teams remaining with 1 or less rush TD allowed, the Ravens have had the most attempts against them. The longest rush against them so far is 16 yards, which is also #1 in the league. I like Eddie Lacy in a good matchup, but in a bad matchup I expect Green Bay to be quick to go away from the run.
#25 Ronnie Hillman - #42 on ESPN Rankings
Last week for my desperation play, I wrote about Jason Snelling. He didn't get many yards, but he ended up with a touchdown, so if you started him you were pretty happy I imagine. This week I think Hillman gets at least 12 touches. In the past three weeks he has had between 11 and 13 touches and and his lowest yardage was 57. This week I think the Jags can stay within the spread, but they might will be down by two possessions at the end of the first. That means a lot of running the ball and better opportunities for touchdowns. He's owned in less than 50% of leagues no matter which website you play on, and as ranked, I like him better than Powell this week.
If you're really desperate...I still believe Mike Goodson takes over as #1 for the Jets sooner than later. Jackie Battle has taken over goal-line duties in Tennessee. I hate Donald Brown, but there is no doubt he has played surprisingly well in the past two games for Indianapolis.
